Tagish Bridge and the Ice Flow

Fished the Tagish bridge and Yukon River this weekend and was surprised at the low water how much ice is still out there. Tagish bridge fishing was slow this long weekend. I guess the rule proves true, fish when the locals are out there....there were no locals this weekend. Saw a bunch of boats at the mouth but have no sense of how they did. Most of the lakes are still chalk full of ice, but the heat this weekend should set them well on their way.

The low water does make for some comfortable and safe fishing with kids at the Yukon River bridge. There are still some deep sections for Grayling and the kids can meander safely along the small beach. Try a bobber drifting with a fly dropper with the kids. I find that my four year old likes watching the bobber as it slowly makes its way downstream. It also means a longer play than always having to help re-cast with a mepps lure.
